‘And still, to ko oku tupuaga whisper beneath o tātou

Mātua – “Fai pea” – keep going’ is a video work by Emele Ugavule exploring the role of dreams as portals to the ancestral realm. Ugavule overlays her poem “You Were In My Dream Last Night” over stock footage, mirroring the ways that diaspora who have never been to their island homes pull together ideas and images of their ancestral homes.
